“I was really excited when I found this tea. Rooibos is my favorite tea. I can drink it all day because it has 0 caffeine. I like drinking it hot, and iced. My two year old even likes to drink it iced. It is great for him because again it has no caffeine, and it has a naturally sweet flavor, unlike other teas, which can be bitter. You can add honey or even apple juice to sweeten it a bit if your kid doesn't like it plain. I steeped it over night and now I have it ready for either of us to drink iced. If I drink it hot, I like to add a little milk and a little honey just to make it creamy. Seriously the best rooibos I have had, and I drink a lot of tea.”

Great flavor worth the price!
“I was hesitant to buy such a large quantity of tea without tasting it first, but now I'm glad I did. The flavor of this tea is decidedly better than the one I've been able to buy at a supermarket. I've been drinking three cups of this every day! I can't have coffee because of the strong effect any amount of caffeine has one me. This tea isn't fruity or floral, tangy or overpowering. It's like coffee: mixing well with a bit of milk and sugar for a comforting hot beverage. I've been using flavored syrups in it, the same kind used in coffee. Try it with oatmilk too! What a great combination.”

Full flavored goodness!
"I grew up with rooibos in SA. My mom literally started giving it to us alongside breastmilk. I've tried many, many different brands over the last 17 years of living in the US and have never quite felt that the flavor matched that of what I remember from my childhood. Rooibos Rocks is the real deal! The flavor is strong and bold, just like I remember. Actually, I'm going to go have a cup right now...”

The best Rooibos tea I have found!
“Fantastic flavor. I've been drinking red bush tea for several years. I had read about it so decided to try a small tin... loved it and went back and bought more for friends who had read the same books. This tea is even better than what I purchased in the past from a major brand tea company... sweeter, and doesn't get bitter if you leave the bags in longer so you know it's pure. I will definitely be buying this again”

Rooibos tea comes from the shrub Aspalathus Linearis and isn’t actually a true tea — it’s a herb or, more accurately, a legume. The leaves are long and needle-like. It is the needles and the ends of the thinnest stems that are used in the tea we drink.
The plant is harvested manually; cut by hand with sickles and scythes, bundled and delivered to the threshing machines where it is cut into tiny ‘leaves’ and then bruised to encourage oxidation while drying under the hot African sun.
As it oxidizes, Rooibos naturally becomes redder and sweeter. Generally 24 hours is considered an optimum time for the tea to oxidize in the drying courts.
This slow age old process is responsible for Rooibos tea brewing into the rich reddish-brown colored and distinctive flavored herbal infusion we know as Rooibos tea, (often referred to as African Red tea and Red Bush tea).
Then, in sterilized factory conditions, the Rooibos is heated to high temperatures for steam pasteurization (so that the tea is free of all bacteria and impurities, and meets and beats all globally recognized standards) and finally it is ready to be graded and packed.

1. What is Rooibos?
The botanical (scientific) name for the Rooibos plant is Aspalathus linearis. The plant (and the products made from it) is widely known as Rooibos. In some countries it is also called “redbush” or “African red tea”.
2. Is Rooibos a tea?
Rooibos is not a true tea, but a member of the legume family. The brew made from the dried Rooibos leaves is therefore a herbal infusion (known as a tisane) rather than a tea, but is widely known as Rooibos Tea.
3. Why is Rooibos Tea red?
The vibrant amber color of Rooibos comes from the natural color that develops during the post-harvest “fermentation” (oxidation) process, brought about by natural enzymes in the plant.
4. Where does rooibos tea come from?
Rooibos is a unique product from a unique area. The plant is indigenous to the Cederberg region, north-west of Cape Town, where the local communities have been using it to brew tea for centuries.
This is the only place in the world where Rooibos grows naturally. The region’s hot and dry summers, winter rainfall and coarse sandy soil is ideally suited to the Rooibos plant.
5. How do you pronounce rooibos?
Rooibos is pronounced 'Roy - Boss'.
6. Is Rooibos a pure and natural product?
Rooibos is a pure and natural product as it contains no colourants, additives or preservatives.
7. Does Rooibos have calories or kilojoules?
Rooibos is naturally sugar free and has no calories or kilojoules.
8. What is the best way to brew Rooibos?
How you drink your Rooibos Tea is a very personal choice. Generally you would use fresh boiling water and steep your Rooibos Tea for 4-5 minutes. Unlike traditional black or green tea, steeping Rooibos longer will create a stronger, more flavorful beverage; it won't turn bitter. It's naturally sweet and tastes delicious hot or cold with honey and a slice of lemon. Some like to add a splash of milk, but we prefer it natural. Rooibos Tea can also be used for a delicious Cold Brew or Ice Tea.
9. How does rooibos support local communities?
Rooibos provides income and employment to more than 5 000 people and earns an estimated R500 million per year. Most Rooibos farms provide housing and schooling for the local, indigineous people who work on the farms.
10. What does "Organic" Rooibos mean?
Organic Rooibos is grown without the use of any artificial fertilisers or pesticides. The organic status of the product is monitored by various international organizations that provide organic certification.
